Calming an Anxious Pet: Bedding, Routine and Quiet Spaces

Storms, visitors and new places can unsettle pets. These calming habits help them feel safe at home.

Pets cannot tell us what is bothering them, but pacing, hiding and chewing are often signs of stress. Small changes at home can make a big difference.

A safe place to retreat

Give your pet a bed in a quiet corner where they can watch the room without being in the middle of it. A bed with raised edges gives a sense of being held, which many pets find soothing.

Keep a gentle routine

  • Feed, walk and play at similar times each day
  • Keep goodbyes and hellos calm and low-key
  • Use a familiar blanket or a worn T-shirt that smells like you

Help them through loud moments

During fireworks, storms or visitors, move your pet to the quietest room, close the curtains and play soft music or white noise. Stay calm yourself; pets read our mood.

When to get help

If anxiety is getting worse or causing damage, speak with your vet or a trained behaviourist. Our calming beds are a comfortable starting point, not a replacement for professional advice.
